Congratulations to the amazing Penrhyn Bay Girls Under-16 football team – North Wales League champions with a 100% record.

Last weekend’s 8-1 home victory over Bethel meant Owen Davis’ side had won all 12 league games in 2021-22 with a massive 89 goals scored and just 13 conceded.

Penrhyn Bay now have their eyes on a treble.

They will meet Cardiff City FC Women Under-16’s in the Welsh Cup Final on April 10 and still have the North Wales Girls Football League Cup to go for.

Bethel will be their first round opponents in the latter cup on April 2.

What a season it has already been for the Penrhyn youngsters!

In 18 matches across all competitions, they have lost just once – 3-2 to Airbus in the NWCFA U-16 Cup.

This team has tremendous recent history.

In 2018-19, they won the FAW Under-16 Welsh Cup as part of a quadruple, beating Villa Dino Christchurch 3-2 in the final thanks to a hat-trick from Ella Jones, who this season netted 22 goals for new Genero Adran North senior tier 2 champions Llandudno.

Penrhyn also lifted the NWGFL Girls Under-16 title, plus the league cup and NWCFA Cup in that remarkable campaign.

Then in 2020-21, Bay made it all the way to the Welsh Cup Final again, losing narrowly 4-3 to Barry Town United in a game where the North Wales team’s international star Sophie Rawling hit a stunning treble.
