Semi-final draw of NWCFA Intermediate Cup still partly shrouded in confusion

One semi-final tie in the NWCFA Intermediate Challenge Cup is clear cut, but the other is anything but.

In yesterday’s draw for the last four of the tier 4 competition, Penmaenmawr Phoenix were handed a home clash with CPD Y Rhyl 1879.

This all-North Wales Coast East Premier Division tussle will be a repeat of this Saturday’s Cookson Cup semi, although Rhyl have the home advantage on that occasion at Belle Vue.

As for the other semi, Bodedern Athletic, who progressed 2-1 at Penrhyndeudraeth last Saturday, could still face any one of four clubs for a place in the final.

A decision is still awaited on what happens next in the round one tie between Meliden and Llanberis.

The original game on January 15 was abandoned when Llanberis removed their players from the field after one was subjected to an alleged racist remark.

The matter, being investigated by the North Wales Coast FA, is yet to be resolved.

Awaiting the winner is the victorious team in the scheduled quarter-final between Pwllheli and Bangor 1876.

It appears that Meliden v Llanberis will now also be amended to quarter-final status.

SEMI-FINAL DRAW (conference date April 2)

Penmaenmawr Phoenix v CPD Y Rhyl 1879
Meliden or CPD Llanberis or CPD Pwllheli or Bangor 1876 v Bodedern Athletic
