Llandudno Albion make it five straight wins by hitting opposition for six

Hat-trick hero Dave Maddock is just three short of a career ton for Albion

ARDAL NORTH WEST REPORTS – FEBRUARY 19

Llandudno Albion 6 (Maddock 19, 45 & 81; Kane 34 & 56, Carey 68)
Blaenau Amateurs 1 (Hughes 59)

David Maddock knocked in a hat-trick as Albion made it five straight wins in the only Ardal North West match played today.

Club record scorer Maddock boosted his total for the season to 16 and 97 goals in all for the Maesdu Park club after his treble against the Quarrymen.

With regular keeper Cian Williams suspended following his red card against Denbigh Town the previous weekend, Blaenau were forced to put regular outfield player David Copsey between the sticks.

Albion took the lead in the 19th minute when a neat ball from midfield released Maddock, who showed strength and persistence in the box to hold off a defender and calmly slot past Copsey.

The second goal was similar. Home keeper Louis Williams delivered a long kick which Jordan Kane latched onto, out-muscled an opponent, turned and applied a neat finish.

Right on the stroke of half time, a pinpoint cross from the left was headed in by Maddock to make it 3-0.

Half-time: 3-0

The home side went four up in the 56th minute when a left foot free kick from 20 yards by Kane was fumbled into the net by Copsey.

Blaenau pulled one back on 59 minutes when good work down the right by Joe Dukes-Morgan led to a near post cross which Alun Hughes finished sharply.

Albion went 5-1 up in the 68th minute when Joe Carey beat Copsey in a race to a long ball into the box and found the net from an angle.

Nine minutes from time, Maddock completed his hat-trick. The striker’s initial shot was kept out by the legs of Copsey, but from the rebound a smart pass set up Maddock again to fire into the net.
