Holyhead has produced many fine footballers and great servants of the town’s teams over the years – Tom Scott is one of them.

Born on February 17, 1990, today is Tom’s 32nd birthday.

A leading airman in the Royal Navy for eight years, the popular midfielder is now a crew manager at RAF Valley.

Married to Jade, the couple have a lovely son Zachary.

For more than 20 years of his football life, Tom represented Holyhead Hotspur, but this season he is helping Caergybi’s quest for success in the North Wales Coast West League Division One.

Tom’s first footballing adventure came at around six years of age when he joined Holyhead Hotspur Peibio Youth.

He has always represented the Holy Island port’s teams. Even whilst in the navy he signed and played locally when back home.

As a youngster he also turned out for the Holyhead and Anglesey Academy, but feels his best form emerged when he transitioned into senior football.

Tom’s navy career saw him not only visit several faraway countries, but also play high standard football in them.

He represented a really good HMS Ocean team which reached the semi-finals of the Navy Cup and was also part of the first ships side to win the prestigious Bambara Football Tournament.

The Bambara is a competition within the Navy or Fleet Air Arm/RAF that normally runs between the major air bases in the UK.

Ocean was the first ships team to be invited to compete and win it.

Tom lines up with Holyhead Hotspur Reserves

Tom proudly wore the colours of Holyhead Hotspur for 23 years. He was part of the excellent reserves side which lifted the Gwynedd Cup in 2013/14.

The central midfielder was reserves assistant under Mike Kelly before becoming player-manager in 2019-20.

At the end of 2020-21, Tom decided to end his long association with Hotspur and last summer made the move to fellow town team Caergybi.

Tom has scored in his last two games for a side which is full of goals.

Happy birthday Tom – have a great day. ⚽️⚽️🎂🎂🎂🍾🍾🍾🍻🍻🥂🥂
