North East Wales League – Gresford, Ruthin and Hawarden reserve teams all score eight

Reserve teams produced some big wins in the second round of the North East Wales Football League Horace Wynne Cup.

FAW Cymru Reserve League sides representing Gresford Athletic and Ruthin Town both racked up eight-goal performances.

Taylor Williams (3), Matthew Thompson (2), Tomos Williams, Cavan Daley and Jordan Ellis shared the goals in Gresford Reserves’ 8-1 success at Mynydd Isa Spartans, Ross Walker with the sole home reply.

Ruthin Town Reserves breezed to an 8-1 victory at Bellevue, Alun Evans (3), Owen Heath (2), Sean Kell (2) and Ifan Jones combining to fill the away scoresheet, Bobby Gregory with the hosts’ consolation.

Hawarden Rangers Reserves thrashed FC United of Wrexham 8-0, Damon Bradley and Aaron North both with hat-tricks, Liam Hett and Jake Selvester one each.

Airbus UK Broughton Reserves eliminated Rhydymwyn Reserves 3-1, Dylan O’Shaughnessy, Jack Hughes and Krystian Durakiewicz with a goal each for the Wingmakers, Coel Lambert equalising for the visitors in the first half.

Benjamin Wilson’s double ensured Llangollen Town got past Lex XI 2-1, Joshua Hancock hitting back for the Lawmen.

Kevin Breeze, Nicholas McCormick and David Hughes guided Coedpoeth United to a 3-1 result at Overton Recreation, Piotr Krzan responding.

FC Queen’s Park saw off Buckley Town Reserves 3-0, Adam Roberts, Ryan Griffiths and Jack Hanley all on the mark in the first half.

Castell Alun Colts were 4-0 up at Borras Park Albion when the tie was abandoned on 70 minutes.

Mike Beech Memorial Trophy

In the Mike Beech Memorial Trophy first round, Connah’s Quay Town defeated New Brighton Villa 3-1.

Ryan Hewitt and Jake Leonard both struck in the first 20 minutes for Town, who then profited from a Oliver Howarth own goal on 62.

Daniel Wainwright grabbed a late reply for the Yellers.
