WOMEN’S FOOTBALL PREVIEWS – SUNDAY, JANUARY 30

GENERO ADRAN NORTH (2 pm)

CPD Pwllheli Women v Bethel Ladies

Bethel will look to hit back after two defeats on the bounce when they visit Pwllheli on Sunday.

The Caernarfon-area side were unbeaten in the league before losing 6-2 at Wrexham on January 16, followed by a 3-2 home reverse against Llandudno last weekend.

After five straight losses, Pwllheli returned to winning ways last Sunday when they saw off Denbigh Town 2-0 at the Rec.

Welshpool Town v Llangefni Town

Llangefni will never forget their first meeting with Welshpool back in September.

It was the Anglesey team’s first game on their return to competitive football and they thrashed the Powys outfit 5-1 at Cae Bob Parry.

Since that day, Welshpool have shown a lot of improvement, especially at home, so a closer game could be in store at Maesydre.

Cefni manager Dan Gregg reports: “No new injury problems for us on Sunday.

“Keeper Jess Marshall is still out, full-back Cara Hughes returns from work commitments.

“It is incredibly hard to pick a squad now – some quality players will be left out. Hope they allow 7 subs on the bench next season.”

Jen Cox came off the bench after a spell out and scored twice in last weekend’s 3-1 win over Llanystumdwy. “Cox in the Box” is the team’s leading scorer on seven.

“Jen Cox will be there looking for more goals,” added Dan.

NORTH EAST WALES FA WOMEN’S CUP (2 pm)

Airbus UK Broughton v NFA

Should be a good contest between tier 2 hosts Airbus and third tier North Wales League high-flyers NFA, who have won eight games in a row.

These teams have never met competitively before.

NFA have been prolific in the goals department this season with Emily Jones, Sade Benjamin and Amy Webster all in double figures.

But Airbus livewire Tegan Hewitt has more goals than any of them – 16 so far in all competitions.

The Wingmakers need a tonic after three league losses in succession.

Amlwch Town P Llandudno P

Match postponed

NORTH WALES COAST WOMEN’S CHALLENGE CUP (2 pm)

Denbigh Town v Trearddur Bay (at St Asaph 3G)

While it has been a tough season for Denbigh in the league, with not a single point yet won, they may benefit from Sunday’s break from the norm in the Challenge Cup.

Town’s performances are getting better all the time and that elusive first draw or win in the Genero Adran North is looming closer.

They have a decent chance of beating a Trearddur team currently struggling near the bottom of the North Wales League.

After some poor results, Bay were much more effective in last Sunday’s narrow 2-1 league loss to high-flying Amlwch.
