Bellevue save the day – Prestatyn Town have a game tonight!

Prestatyn Town’s frantic search for a friendly tonight (Thursday) has eventually been successful.

This morning, the club announced that despite their best efforts, they had not been able to secure a new opponent after original scheduled visitors Brickfield Rangers cancelled.

Town joint-managers John Barnes and Andrew Ruscoe wanted a game organised to try out a host of new players ahead of Saturday’s return to league action, when the Seasiders visit Conwy Borough.

The pair worked long into last night (and this morning) to find a replacement – initially to no avail.

That was until Bellevue of Wrexham, the multi-national, award-winning club which plays in North East Wales League Division One, stepped in.

While participation has always been paramount rather than results for Delwyn Derrick’s side – they have lost most matches played since forming in 2016 – Prestatyn can be sure they will face enthusiastic and committed opposition this evening.

Bellevue was established six years ago with a goal to provide league football opportunities to those from perceived adverse backgrounds or those from backgrounds of social poverty.

Andrew Ruscoe explained: “We tried everyone we could think of, but while everyone appreciated the call, they all said the same thing – too short notice, which of course is understandable.

“But now we’ve got Bellevue visiting us. They are a club I’m familiar with, as I hail from the Wrexham area and the club I am joint chairperson of – FC United of Wrexham – plays in the same division as Bellevue in Saturday football.

“Massive thanks to Bellevue for accommodating us. We hope both teams will benefit and that we’ll get a good look at our new players ahead of Saturday.”

Tonight’s match at Bastion Gardens kicks off at 7.30 pm. Admission is FREE
