While much of the attention last Saturday was on the titanic clash between Bodedern Athletic and Bangor 1876, there were other cracking games going on in the Premier Division.
One of them was at Maes-y-Parc, where high-flyers Penrhyndeudraeth and Pwllheli shared an eight-goal thriller.
Kev Lloyd grabbed a first-half hat-trick for Penrhyn before Steve Jones and Dylan “Midge” Owen added further strikes after the break in a 5-3 victory.
Jason Banks, Meical Williams and a Carwyn Price own goal kept Pwllheli in the hunt.
On 67 minutes, Penrhyn’s Cai Henshaw was controversially dismissed for a second yellow card with his team 4-3 up.
Owen grabbed a fifth goal for the hosts two minutes later and that was the end of the scoring.
John Jones, Steve Jenkins and Gary Bolton grabbed the goals which earned Aberffraw an outstanding victory at Cae’r Delyn.
Berffro led 1-0 at the interval, 3-0 just after the hour and they maintained that lead until Ifan Jones knocked in two goals for Nefyn in added time. Too little, too late.
Ifan Mansoor (2), Cal MacDonald (2), Gethin Maxwell (2), Kurt Hellfeld and Ryan Owen shared the goals as Llanberis ran riot at home to Pentraeth.
Before this match a minute’s applause took place in honour of Gaerwen’s former No 9 Tom Wyn Roberts, who sadly passed away 10 years ago.
The game that ensued was a credit to Tom’s memory and was settled by a 94th minute winner from Glantraeth’s Tudur Williams.
Meurig Evans put Gaerwen in front in the 50th minute before Paul Bryant equalised after 64.
Christy Pritchard was red carded for the visitors in added time.
Marc Evans (2 pens) and Asa Thomas grabbed the goals which sealed Bodedern a 13th straight win of the season and put them top of the Premier.
Visitors 1876 made a real game of it, Chris Jones (pen) and Sion Edwards putting them 2-1 up after Thomas had struck first for Boded.
But two spot-kicks from Evans put him on 38 goals for the season and made sure Bodedern maintained their 100 percent record.
It was also 1876’s first-ever league defeat in their 30th game.
