North Wales Coast West Division One – first-ever win for Bethesda Rovers, great start for new Cefni manager

NORTH WALES COAST WEST DIVISION ONE REPORTS – OCTOBER 16

Bethesda Rovers 2 CPD Y Fali 1

Big credit to Bethesda Rovers for recording their first-ever win at the 11th attempt.

Division One’s bottom side, new to league football this season, had not claimed a point in their previous 10 games, but today it came right at the expense of CPD Y Fali.

Connor Tilbury Jones put the hosts one-up in the 37th minute before Thomas Davies added a second from the penalty spot close to half time.

Substitute Nathan Harris replied for Fali with four minutes left, but it was too late to affect the result.

Bethesda Athletic 1 Llannerchymedd 1

The battle of the top two in Division One ended all-square.

After a goal-less first half, leaders Llan suffered a blow soon after the start of the second period when Lewis Connor was shown a red card.

Pesda capitalised when Joe Todd put them ahead a minute later.

However, Medd, beaten just once this term, levelled through Chris Bennett on 61 minutes and 1-1 is how it stayed.

Athletic goalkeeper David Clarke was named man of the match after pulling off some fabulous saves.

Bodorgan 0 Llanfairpwll 2

Two second-half goals from top-scorer Jay Finter clinched the win which lifted Llanfairpwll to fifth in the table, just six points off top spot.

Finter struck after 56 and 69 minutes to boost his tally for the season to 15 goals.

Luke Owen and Carwyn Roberts provided the assists, while Finter was named man of the match.

Holyhead Town 0 CPD Cefni 3

Gwion Williams’ first match in charge of CPD Cefni will go down as a happy occasion.

Williams has for the rest of the season replaced the unwell Graham Jones (Squeez), who has taken on the club chairman’s role while he recuperates.

Macauley Lewis, Ben Wright and Luke Allaway were on target for the visitors who beat a struggling Holyhead side currently one off the bottom.

Mountain Rangers 3 Caergybi 1

Two goals in added time clinched a memorable win for a Rangers outfit which ended the game with nine men.

Aled Rice struck twice for the home team, who had Jason Taylor and Irfon Hughes red carded in quick succession in the second half.

Gary-Jo Owen scored for Caergybi, who had Shaun Jones dismissed in the late stages.

Waunfawr 2 Talysarn Celts 2

Third-place Talysarn fought back from two goals down to get a draw against Waunfawr.

Joshua Williams and Rhys Roberts both netted to put the Beganifs two-up within the first half-hour.

However, by half time, Luke Baum and Glyn Hughes-Thomas had made it two-apiece.

No further goals in the second half, although Waunfawr’s Guto Llywelyn received a second yellow card and manager Steven Hughes saw red.
