What a signing for the Saints! Champions recruit Dan Evans from Llandudno CC

Class act: Dan Evans has joined St Asaph CC

North Wales Cricket League Premier Division champions St Asaph have added a top all-rounder to their ranks.

Dan Evans has joined the Elwy Park Grove club after several successful seasons with bat and ball for Llandudno.

A St Asaph club statement said: “The Saints are thrilled to announce the signing of Dan Evans from Llandudno CC.

Dan is regarded as one of the best players in North Wales Cricket and we as a club are buzzing to have him with us.”

Dan was a regular in the Llandudno sides which won the North Wales Premier Division title in 2013 and 2016, while in 2017 he was second overall in the top flight run chart with 822.

He also represented Wales in his younger years.

Born on December 14, 1997, Dan has amassed 5,587 runs for Llandudno CC, including 28 half-centuries and 11 tons. His tally for the first team, for whom he debuted in 2012, is 4,676 runs.

He has also picked up 257 wickets for The Oval club, 209 for the firsts.

Cricket is not Dan’s only specialist sport – he is also a key midfielder for progressive Welsh pyramid tier 3 football club Llandudno Albion.

He first appeared for the club in 2016-17, his first-ever goal a winning one against Mochdre Sports.

Albion won the Welsh Alliance Division Two title that season at the first attempt.

In 2017-18, Dan was second-top scorer with 15 goals and netted in the final as Albion lifted the Mawddach Cup and finished seventh in Division One.

Dan was on the mark 12 times in 2018-19 when Albion claimed a highly creditable third place in Welsh Alliance Division One.

Then in the curtailed 2019-20 campaign, Dan struck 11 goals and helped Albion reach the FAW Trophy final for the first time.

Sadly, the prestigious game was never played due to the pandemic ending the season early.

Dan produced some great performances for Llandudno CC in 2021.

His finest day came on July 3, when he celebrated the ‘perfect game’ for Tudno as he notched a century and took five wickets in a resounding victory at Denbigh.

Evans produced his second highest league score for Tudno of 141 and came up with second best-ever bowling figures of 5-37 in a dream day at Ystrad Road.

Little wonder St Asaph are so delighted to get him on board.
