Are you ready for North Wales football’s version of Magic Weekend?

Saturday’s fixture list has thrown up four titanic clashes across the pyramid.

The irresistible force will meet the immovable object in a quartet of northern crackers.

How do you see the following four matches ending up…..

JD CYMRU PREMIER
Connah’s Quay Nomads v The New Saints (12.45 pm)

The first meeting of the season between current Cymru Premier leaders The New Saints and the team which has beaten them to the title in the last two campaigns Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Nomads built a fine record over TNS under former manager Andy Morrison, but Jock has moved on and Craig Harrison has taken over at Deeside Stadium.

Giving Saturday’s tussle extra spice is the fact Harrison won six Welsh Premier titles as TNS manager between 2011-17.

While Saints have started the 2021-22 season very impressively, sitting top with 19 points out of 21, Nomads are surprisingly down in eighth on just nine points..

Quay have not lost in their last four home meetings with TNS and last season the reds walloped the full-timers 4-1 at Park Hall.

On that day, Mike Wilde haunted his old club with a hat-trick, but the prolific striker is now with Flint and Nomads need to look elsewhere for the goals which have eluded them so far.

The game will be live on Sgorio’s YouTube and Facebook channels.

LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH EAST (2.30 pm)
Chirk AAA v Cefn Albion

This is massive!

Chirk, top of the table, played 8 and won 8, plus 38 goal difference versus Cefn Albion, also unbeaten and fourth, with six wins and a draw in seven outings.

Chirk’s only losses this season have come in cups and one of those defeats was at the hands of Cefn Albion in the FAW Trophy. Albion pipped the Colliers 2-1 at The Rock in August.

Andrew Pryde’s home side will be out for revenge and determined to protect their 100 per cent record, but Albion are a team that can never be counted out.

LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH WEST (2.30 pm)
Porthmadog v Denbigh Town

Porthmadog manager Craig Papirnyk

Could there be a bigger contest out there in the Ardal Northern this weekend than Chirk v Cefn Albion?

Saturday’s game at Y Traeth between Ardal North West leaders Porthmadog and second-place Denbigh is right up there alongside its North East equivalent potential epic.

Port have a two-point lead at the summit but Town, the league’s only unbeaten side, have a game in hand on Craig Papirnyk’s men.

Both teams are full of goals. Port have netted 18 in their last three matches, while Denbigh have managed 15 in four.

This is a game between the two best supported clubs in the division.

More significantly, it is a battle between the league’s best defence and the league’s best attack. Denbigh have conceded just 5 goals in 7 games while Port have scored 33 in 8.

NORTH WALES COAST EAST FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION ONE (2.30 pm)
Llanelwy Athletic v Llandudno Amateurs

Llanelwy manager Sandy Malone

Is it pushing things a bit far comparing this tier 5 crunch clash with the three above?

I don’t think so.

Llanelwy have a perfect record of played 10, won 10 and are second in Division One, just a point behind leaders Cerrigydrudion with four games in hand.

And Sandy Malone’s side have scored 54 goals! Their strike force eat fireworks for breakfast.

However, Llandudno Amateurs are goal crazy too, having also netted 54 times in their 14 outings.

They have lost four times and are fourth in the table, but could be just the sort of team to upset Malone’s marauders.

Scot Malone used to manage the Amateurs as well – as if this game needed any more edge!
