Penblwydd hapus Tash Matthews – 20 heddiw

Tash Matthews of CPDM Llanystumdwy

Happy birthday Natasha Cerys Matthews – 20 today.

Born on September 30, 2001, the defender better known as Tash currently plays for North Wales Women’s League side Llanystumdwy.

She is the partner of Llanystumdwy player-manager and 300-goal star Sion Parry. The couple have a beautiful daughter named Jessica.

Tash first came to light in senior football when playing for Bangor City in 2017-18 in a cracking team which also included the likes of Cerys Gadd, Lexi Crawley and Ceri Lois Thomas.

After moving away from the area to study, Tash made a brief comeback in 2019-20 for Llandudno.

She made her debut for the then Welsh Premier Women’s League side in a 1-1 draw with Aberystwyth Town.

Her next big engagement was with motherhood, giving birth to Jessica on July 22, 2020.

Tash decided the time was right to return to football in summer 2021 with CPDM Bangor 1876.

However, family circumstances led to her joining Llanystumdwy as it is nearer to her and Sion’s Porthmadog home.

Games have been scarce for the newly-formed Llan so far, but Tash is looking forward to getting going with her new side.

In her football career she has also represented Dolgellau, Barmouth girls and North Wales Coast Development Centre, as well as Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn.

She once played in the Welsh Schools FA National Cup Final, representing Eryri.

An absolutely class defender who makes the game look easy. at the age of just 20 Tash still has so much more to offer her sport.
