PREVIEW: GENERO ADRAN NORTH

Llandudno have received a boost ahead of Sunday’s visit to Connah’s Quay Nomads with the return of one of their finest ever players.

Winger Kelsey Davies has rejoined the Seasiders after a productive spell in the English pyramid with Wem Town.

After Llandudno resigned from the Welsh Premier Women’s League in 2019-20, Kelsey moved to Shropshire-based Wem, a semi-professional club which play in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands.

They formerly played under the TNS banner, but became known as Wem Town last season.

In May, Wem won the Shropshire Women’s County Cup, thrashing Shrewsbury Town 5-0 in the final. Kelsey came on as a second-half substitute.

However, with Llandudno now back in business and playing in the tier 2 Genero Adran North, the 24-year-old has decided to return to Maesdu Park.

Kelsey’s talents developed with Kinmel Bay Girls, with whom she reached the 2012 Under-16 Welsh Cup final.

She went on to represent Wales at under-16, U-17 and U-19 levels, competing in many prestigious tournaments.

A speedy right-sided attacker with an eye for goal, she signed for WPWL side Llandudno as a senior.

She was part of the team which made it to the 2015-16 Welsh Cup Final and also did much to ensure Tudno maintained top league status for seven full seasons.

Sunday’s clash at Connah’s Quay should be a good battle with both teams winning their opening league fixtures.

Bethel v Wrexham

Both comfortably won their opening league games, but were then beaten in cup group matches.

Wrexham bounced back well in the Welsh Cup last weekend, thrashing Llanfair 6-1.

In Rosie Hughes, they have a striker who has scored nine goals in her first three matches and the Bethel defence will be well aware of her talents.

The young Bethel squad will be bubbling with enthusiasm ahead of their first home game in some time.

Llanfair United v Denbigh Town

Although well beaten in the Welsh Cup by Wrexham last time out, Llanfair will fancy their chances of a win against a struggling Denbigh who have conceded 27 goals in their first three matches.

Pwllheli v Airbus

With cup wins against Wrexham and Amlwch Town in their last two outings, Pwllheli will now be keen to get some league points on the board when they welcome Airbus.

The Llyn side will be hoping for good news on the fitness of attacking midfielder Katie Bowe, who missed last Sunday’s win over Amlwch through injury.

The Wingmakers were well beaten on their Genero Adran North debut against Bethel, but finished up victorious at Welshpool in the Welsh Cup last weekend.

Tegan Hewitt is in good goal-scoring form for the Broughton side, who hope to welcome back skipper Abby Williams.

NORTH WALES WOMEN’S LEAGUE

Joint leaders Bangor 1876 and Amlwch Town both have home assignments on Sunday.

Table-toppers on goal difference, 1876 have recorded 12-0 and 6-2 wins so far, and will be optimistic of making it three victories in a row when they welcome newcomers Welshpool.

Although Jonny Batten’s side have ace striker Ffion Roberts out injured, there are still ample goals in the team to achieve a positive result.

Amlwch, who have beaten Welshpool and Trearddur Bay so far, may find the going tougher against a more experienced NFA.

Llangefni Town got off to a flyer with a 5-1 beating of Welshpool and the Anglesey side’s home match with Northop Hall on Sunday should be a good contest.

Bottom two Caernarfon Town and Llanystumdwy face each other.
