Three goals in the last 20 minutes secured a route into the FAW Trophy fourth round for Bangor 1876 after a highly entertaining tie against Halkyn and Flint Mountain.
The North East Wales League Premier Division visitors gave their fellow tier 4 hosts probably their toughest test of the season thus far, holding their opponents to 2-2 at half time.
It was only in the final quarter that 1876 were able to kick on and make it nine straight victories in all competitions.
The home side took the lead on 15 minutes when Halkyn & Flint Mountain had possession in their penalty area but Harry Galeotti won the ball after pressing a defender and finished well to open the scoring.
Conceding first did not deter the visitors and they drew level after 25 minutes when Louis Davies broke from the middle of the pitch, beat several men and finished past debutant home goalkeeper Ben Heald.
1876 re-took the lead shortly before the half-hour mark. After Galeotti was floored by the visiting goalkeeper when he broke into the left side of the box, Chris Jones stepped up to calmly convert the penalty.
However, the visitors were back on terms again three minutes later after another well-taken set-piece. After Mountain were awarded a free-kick left of centre 25 yards out, experienced goalscorer Phil Lloyd stepped up to curl the ball into the top right-hand corner.
In the first 10 minutes of the second period, 1876 had chances through Cameron Barry and Galeotti but were unable to find the net. At the other end, Mountain continued to look lively and managed to fashion some good openings.
As the game entered its final 20 minutes, a decisive and somewhat fortuitous goal arrived. The ball was worked across to Les Davies on the left of the visitors penalty area and his powerful shot was deflected past the keeper.
With just over ten minutes left, top-scorer Davies rose well to head in a right wing cross from Cian Williams to make the score 4-2 with his 13th goal of the campaign.
In injury time, the result was settled as a neat pass from Joe Culshaw found Galeotti in the penalty area and he finished neatly.
