Llanuwchllyn moved to top spot in Ardal North West on goal difference after a comfortable home win over Blaenau.

Joe Williams broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time and he added a second goal from the penalty spot on 65 minutes.

Sam Evans pounced on a loose ball to make it 3-0 in the 80th minute and near the end a great through pass from Nathan Davies found Iolo Jones, who sent a lovely effort into the top corner.

Carwyn Jones was man of the match for the hosts.

Saltney Town 5

For the third time already this season Saltney visited Clywedog Park and just like on the two previous occasions the Bordermen were resounding victors.

This latest trip brought Town their first league win of the campaign and lifted them off the basement of Ardal North West.

Previously, Saltney had won 4-0 at Brickfield in the NEWFA Challenge Cup and 3-0 in the Welsh Cup.

The quality of some of Town’s goals on Saturday were outstanding.

Steve Chiocchi started the ball rolling with a fantastic strike from distance in the 22nd minute.

Corey Mason added a second before the break via a beautifully-placed low free kick into the left-hand corner of the net.

Andrew Vale cut the deficit six minutes into the second half, but Chiocchi made it 3-1 on 69.

Rhys Baines’ close range finish made sure of the points and Tommy Booth raced clear to slot home number five in the last minute.

Penycae 3

Penycae’s Austin Owen could be renamed Austin Maestro the way he has started the season.

Owen notched a hat-trick for his team on Saturday in a fine win at Carno and boosted his season’s total to six in all competitions.

Penycae fell behind to a 14th minute goal from Carno’s Kieran Mulloch, but Owen levelled before half time then added two more after the break.

After drawing their first two league matches, this was a first win in Ardal North East for Penycae, who lie third in the table.

Rhos Aelwyd 8

It all came right for Rhos at the third time of asking in their Ardal North East campaign.

In their previous encounters, the Aelwyd had lost narrowly in a 5-4 thriller against Cefn Albion and 2-0 at Berriew, but the team played well in both matches.

Rhos had also won Welsh Cup ties against Cefn Mawr Rangers and Chirk AAA, so they knew there was potential for a big league victory.

And it came at Kerry, who admittedly had begun the season badly with 12 goals conceded in their opening two losses.

Scott Reeves and Luke Williams both scored doubles, while there was a goal apiece from Ryan Jenkins, James Haynes, Dan Roberts and Daf Robertson.
