These are the sort of games you want to see in pre-season – ones which benefit both sides.
It ended three-apiece between Anglesey newcomers Trearddur Bay and Llangefni Town at Lon Isallt on Sunday.
Both teams could take an awful lot from the match.
The islanders played 3 x 30 minute periods to allow everyone an opportunity to show what they could do.
Bay started well and although Llangefni had the edge in possession the hosts made the better chances.
Shanellie Cooper broke down the left and after beating three defenders calmly finished to make it 1-0 to Trearddur.
Not long after Chloe Taylor drove into the Llangefni penalty area before squaring the ball to Freya Davies, who brilliantly side-footed into the corner of the net for 2-0.
Cefni really came into the contest in the second period.
A brilliant free kick from Nia Ginnelly landed perfectly in the box for Jade Cook to score for 2-1.
It was soon after that an equaliser was delivered by Town’s player of the match Jen Cox.
Bay then created a few chances but were wasteful in front of goal. Llangefni took advantage when a miss-kick from the home keeper only found Cox, who netted her team’s third from distance.
Chris Davies’ home team changed their shape and started pushing for an equaliser. Some great balls were fed down the channels but it just wasn’t happening for Bay.
That was until Gail Paterson-Manning collected the ball on the left, beat a couple of defenders and curled a looping shot over the Llangefni keeper which levelled the game.
A terrific workout for both sides.
Llandudno and Denbigh Town met in a hastily-arranged friendly at Maesdu Park.
Due to shortage of numbers, Tudno loaned some players to their opponents.
The match resulted in a comfortable Llandudno victory.
Wrexham AFC Women recorded an impressive 4-3 success at Connah’s Quay Nomads, with trialists sharing three of the away goals and Tiffany Sands also on the mark.
