Thursday night football reports – wins for Y Fali, Town, Medd and Cemaes

Llangoed 1 (Luke Rushton-Davies 73)
CPD Y Fali 3 (Marc Wilson 10 pen, Luke Miles 35 & 45)

Luke Miles continued his storming start to the season with a double as CPD Y Fali made it two wins from as many games with a 3-1 success at Llangoed.

Miles also notched the late winner in Fali’s opening day victory over Llanfairpwll and is undoubtedly one of the players to watch in North Wales Coast West Division One.

Thursday’s clash at Tyddyn Paun saw the visitors start strongly, moving the ball around well and controlling possession.

Then on 10 minutes some good work down the right wing by Chris Hughes resulted in a penalty when he was brought down in the box. Marc Wilson made no mistake slotting it home.

More good work by Hughes resulted in goal number two, beating the full-back and driving into the box before cutting back for Miles to score.

Only an outstanding save from Fali stopped Sammie Williams denied Llangoed a goal back.

Fali roared back, Hughes once again felled in the area on 35 minutes but the resulting penalty from Mark Hamblin was saved.

With half time approaching, a lovely through ball by Hughes cut open the opposition defence, putting Miles through on goal, and he converted with a good left foot finish.

Llangoed looked capable of causing problems at the start of the second half, but the Fali defence remained solid.

Miles had what he thought was his hat-trick goal disallowed after the ball hit his hand. Soon after, Hughes had a shot well saved.

In the latter stages, Llangoed started to see more of the ball and kept pushing, and they got their consolation when Luke Rushton-Davies applied a good finish.

Cemaes Bay 3 (Rhys Lloyd 17, Andy Williams 65, Sion Rowlands 84)
Llanystumdwy 2 (Sion Parry 9 & 25)

Cemaes came from behind twice before the game was settled with a very early goal of the season contender from Sion Rowlands in the 84th minute.

A good game for the spectators saw goal machine and player-manager Sion Parry put the visitors ahead in the ninth minute before Rhys Lloyd levelled after 17.

Parry struck again on 25 minutes and it was 2-1 to Llanystumdwy at half time.

After the break, Cemaes upped their game and the ever-prolific Andy Williams made it 2-2 on 65 minutes.

Then came Rowlands’ screamer to settle the argument.

Luke Mckittrick was Cemaes player of the match.

Llannerchymedd 6 (Tom Kelly 1 & 64, Mark Jones 25, Chris Bennett 34 & 89, Gwion Owen 82)
CPD Cefni 0

The Mighty Medd made it two straight wins with a six-goal salvo against Cefni.

It was 3-0 at half time to Meirion Grieves and Iwan Williams’ side, Tom Kelly, Mark Jones and Chris Bennett all on target.

Three more goals followed in the second half, Kelly and Bennett completing braces before Gwion Owen got in on the act.

Llanfairpwll 1 (Marquis Holland 54)
Holyhead Town 3 (Kaine Bentley 46 & 69, James Ryan 90)

Kaine Bentley delivered a double as Holyhead began their season with a win at Maes Eilian.

After a very long time without competitive matches, Town started their campaign with an away test and took the points thanks to Bentley’s double and a late effort from the goal machine James Ryan.

Marquis Holland responded for Llanfairpwll, who have suffered back-to-back losses.
