Six years ago today, Ynys Môn’s women put up a great performance at the International Island Games in Jersey.
Anglesey rounded off their Group A campaign with an honourable 3-2 loss to Guernsey on July 1, 2015.
Former Wales international Katie Williams scored both goals for the Welsh hopefuls, one a fabulous 25-yard free kick.
Williams put Môn ahead, Guernsey turned the tables to lead 3-1 before the then Caernarfon player added hers and the Welsh team’s second.
In their other matches, Anglesey lost 5-2 to Aland and 7-0 at the hands of a very strong Isle of Wight.
This was the first time in many years Môn ladies had competed in the Games and they impressed everyone with their effort and spirit.
The ladies squad for the Guernsey game was: Hannah Lloyd, Claire Jones, Cerys Gadd, Paige Musgrave, Carol Lewis, Chloe Taylor, Katie Williams, Charlotte Gill, Catrin Thomas, Phillipa Jones, Jordanne Greenough. Subs: Anna Roberts, Meinir Thomas, Ceri Slaney, Charlotte Webb.
