Sunday’s friendly at Rhyl Leisure Centre saw NFA control the first half before Wrexham dominated after the break and ran out deserved winners.

The Rhyl side created plenty of chances in the opening half, but only found the net once through a cross from Georgia Spibey which resulted in an own goal.

Second half was a different story as Wrexham emerged the better team.

Lauren Reese equalised soon after the restart and added a second through an effort that cannoned in off both posts.

Later in the game the hosts conceded a third after a through ball down the left and a good finish from a trialist.

NFA coach Andy Lloyd said: “Some really good debuts today and special mention to POM Lucy Sass Davies who played her first game for 5 years and was excellent in the middle of the defence.

“More positives than negatives to take out of the game. We did have six of our squad missing through work commitments.”

It was the first time in over a year that Wrexham’s women could hit the pitch and they inevitably took time to settle.

The visitors had a number of trialists’ involved as they look to build a side capable of reaching the upper echelons of the Tier 2 North table come next season.

After the break a rejuvenated Wrexham went close through a Reece free kick and also struck the post.

Wrexham’s hard work was almost undone on 56 minutes when NFA had the ball in the back of the net, but the referee adjudged a foul on goalkeeper Kat Jones.

The visitors were level on 61 minutes when Reese steered home at the back post.

Ten minutes later, Wrexham completed the turnaround. After a battle down the right for possession, Reese won it, looked up and spotted the keeper of her line and lofted the ball over to take the lead with a stunning effort.

With 79 minutes on the clock Wrexham’s trialists took control to create and score a third goal that settled the game.

Mochdre Lionesses line up on Sunday

Both sides will have benefited from this warm-up clash on Sunday.

Kinmel Bay ran out narrow winners with goals from Charlotte Pardoe (2) and Lucy Perry, while Mochdre responded through Beth Smith and Leanne Williams.

Joanne Dean also nearly scored for the Lionesses from a goal kick.

The teams played seven-a-side. As Kinmel had no subs, they ended up dropping down to six at one stage.

As a Platinum club for a second year running, Kinmel Bay were chosen to host a Facebook live BT Sports event at the weekend promoting Hope United, a campaign launched to tackle online hate crime.
