Holywell Town 0 Penrhyn Bay 8

After nine weeks without a fixture Penrhyn Bay did not show too much rustiness as they rattled up an eight-goal victory at Mostyn.

Ffion Evans, Mia Rawling and Molly Watkinson all scored two apiece for the visitors, while Hannah Smith and Hannah Jones also found the net.

Holywell were missing several regulars, having a squad of just 12 at their disposal.

Steph Doyle was out due to injury, therefore Hazel Ogden stepped up to keeper having never played there before and made some great challenges and saves.

Captain Sarah Massey and Ruby McGilloway were also absent, limiting the Wellwomen’s goalscoring potential.

Although every single home player grafted for 90 minutes, the defence worked especially hard, keeping a good line, reading the game well and team captain Steph Bamford stood out at centre back along with Olivia Williams, who was injured in the second half.

Attacking players Caitlin Hadaway and Leah Davies always posed a challenge to the opposition.

Yet again an improved display from Holywell, with as per usual the team ethos and spirit not to give in until that last whistle evident once again.

NFA 3 Llanberis 2

A close fought battle which could have gone either way saw Rhyl-based hosts NFA claim a narrow victory.

Emily Jones put the home side into a 21st minute lead with a close range finish before Amy Chesters made it 2-0 from an acute angle.

Unfortunately, NFA lost key defender Llinos Hughes with a broken nose prior to half time.

With the home team forced into a reshuffle, they began the second half on the backfoot.

Llanberis were level by the 55th minute through a fine low strike from Ffion Roberts and a marvellous Charley Davies free kick.

Jones lashed in NFA’s winner on 69 minutes, but it needed two good late saves by keeper Amy Webster from Awel Ellis to deny the Darans a point.

Caernarfon Town 0 Llanfair United 8

Division One leaders Llanfair produced the anticipated big win at Division Two strugglers Caernarfon in this NEWFA Cup quarter final.

Gemma E Jones, Sarah Ellis and Mabli Johnson all bagged two apiece, Mary Kate Bailey and an own goal making up the rest.

The match was due to be played on 3G, but because of a double booking it was switched to a grass pitch where the conditions restricted the chance to play flowing football.

Wrexham 1 Pwllheli 0

It needed a late goal from Oceia Thomas for Division One Wrexham to get past Pwllheli in this last eight NEWFA Cup battle.

Division Two visitors Pwllheli produced what has now become their trademark battling away performance, their resilience ensuring the outcome was in doubt right till the end.
