Buckley keep on winning in Division Two
Tied cricket matches are as rare as rocking horse droppings but there was one in Division Two on Saturday involving leaders Mold 2nds.
The table-toppers won the toss and batted, setting a lowish score of 124-8 off 40 overs, skipper Lewis Pringle scoring 26, Georgia Munro 3-21 for the hosts.
Captain Joshua Knowles was 73 not out in Gresford’s reply, but he could not get his team over the finish line as they also ended on 124-8.
Craig Roberts notched 3-14 and Pringle 2-18 as the teams took eight points apiece.
Adam Shaw picked up a tremendous 4-7 off 6.5 overs as in-form Buckley kept their winning streak going.
Putting hosts Northop in, Bucks bowled out their hosts for just 86, extras the top-scorer on 22, Shaw receiving great back up from Jack Whitley (2-17), William Norman (2-21) and Alex Storey (1-6).
Joel Sampson and Sam Evans both made 23 as the visitors reached 87-4 for a 13-2 success.
Sion Edwards claimed a remarkable 7-19 as Marchwiel and Wrexham thrashed Denbigh at Ystrad Road.
Nick Husbands (46) and Michael Forgrave (39) were the main run-getters as the visitors posted 186-9.
John Williams did best with the ball for the home side, snapping up 3-24.
Denbigh were blitzed out for just 47 in 17.3 overs, Edwards’ 7-19 coming off nine overs, Josh Williams 2-6.
Charlie Williams hit a maiden century as St Asaph 2nds hammered Llay by 244 runs at The Ring.
Williams posted 114 and David North added 81 not out down the order as Saints set a huge total of 309-7, Dave Jones 4-53 for the hosts.
In reply, Llay crumbled to 65 all out, North and Amer Jamil both collecting 3-19 in a 15-0 breeze.
Nuwan Amarakoon retired not out, but not before he had made 109 to put Bersham on the victory path at Tyn-y-Caeau.
Amith Thilakarathne added 79 as the Colliers chalked up a formidable 271-4 off 40 overs, Thomas Roberts taking two wickets for 10 runs in one over for Menai.
The islanders finished 38 runs short of victory on 234-8, Matt Bixby with an impressive 106, Thomas Roberts making 40 and Josh Massey 31.
Thilakarathne poached 3-15 in seven tight overs for Bersham.
A four-wicket win for Mochdre, whose top-order batting served them well.
Carmel decided to bat and came up with 167-6 off 40 overs, captain Ben Sim and Daniel Owens 50 apiece, Liam Herbert 2-34 and Finlay Jones 2-38.
Mochdre reached 168-6 in 37 overs, Scott Roberts 42, Callum Chambers and Finlay Jones both 39, skipper Dan Miller 25, Derek Johnson 2-17 and Owens 2-23 for the visitors.
