Dream Debuts No 6: Catrin Evans (Bethel – 2018/19 season)

Catrin Evans has done just about everything perfectly in her football career to date – so it is no surprise that she scored a hat-trick on her senior debut.

The Anglesey-based winger had just turned 16 when she landed a treble in her first game for Bethel in a 9-1 thrashing of Kinmel Bay on January 13, 2019.

She went on to net 18 goals in just 12 appearances as the maroons finished joint-winners of the North Wales Women’s League Division One title that season.

Bethel stamped their authority early at Kinmel Bay.

Erin Maloney ran down the right and swung a cross into the box where Ffion Williams tapped home.

Soon after Catrin Evans scored on her debut as she controlled a Gwenno Gibbard Bolton pass, beat two players and dinked the keeper in the area.

Ffion Williams got her second of the game and 18th of the season as Kelly Jones’ long range pass beat the Kinmel defence,

Williams outpaced her markers and stayed cool to bury her chance.

Evans bagged her second as she got on the end of another Maloney cross to cleverly beat the goalie.

Yasmin Williams made it five as she took advantage of the strong winds and hit a 30 yard shot that found the top left-hand corner.

Two minutes later Yasmin Williams hit an unstoppable free kick from 35 yards that left the keeper helpless, a contender for goal of the season.

Half-time: Kinmel Bay 0 Bethel 6

Gibbard Bolton’s volley on the swivel made it 7-0 just before the hour.

Kinmel Bay grabbed a consolation before Evans wrapped up a debut hat-trick as she was intricately fed through by substitute Llio Emyr and lashed home a first time shot.

Maloney finally got on the score sheet late on.
