Great news for Ruthin Town Football Club

Ruthin Town Football Club’s future looks brighter in more ways than one.

The progressive Cymru North club have been successful in securing funding needed to progress with the installation of floodlights on both the first team and adjacent training second pitch at the Memorial Playing Fields.

Club chairman Andy Edwards said: “With a combined project value of £186,000 we are extremely thankful to our partners who have helped us over the line.

“Our project plan has been achieved with great help from Sport Wales, the Brenig Wind Farm and Clocaenog Wind Farm.

“I am also very grateful for our combined work with Eryl Roberts from our club sponsor Jones Bros and local electrician Chris Williams, who will be supporting us with the developments.”

The club was granted planning permission for the floodlights in February. It was then a case of attracting necessary funding for the project, which has now been achieved.

Many months of working hard behind the scenes and completing a series of applications to help secure planning consent and finance the development have delivered just reward.

Boosts like this are just what North Wales football needs after so many months of hardship brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

The club hopes the lights will be installed by the end of the summer, ready for season 2021-22.
