North Wales girls teams target Welsh Cup quarter-finals

NFA Under-16’s pictured before beating Airbus last weekend

A place in the quarter-finals of the FAW Under-16 Girls Welsh Cup will be the target of four North Wales teams tomorrow.

NFA will take on 2018-19 cup winners Penrhyn Bay at Rhyl Leisure Centre, while Caernarfon Town host Northop Hall.

Both round two matches will be subject to current social distancing rules.

With no competition held last season, Penrhyn are still technically the holders of the cup and showed they are in no mood to loosen their grip on the trophy in beating Bethel 10-0 in last Sunday’s first round tussle at Conwy Borough.

Hat-tricks from Sophie Rawling and substitute Millie Spencer, plus other contributions from Nel Metcalfe (2), Mia Morris Roberts and Ella Jones brought up the double figures.

NFA overcame Airbus 4-0 in their opening round battle last weekend, Rosie Hughes and Kerry Morris scoring two apiece.

In the other all-North Wales tie, Caernarfon Town, 2-0 victors at new side Bangor 1876 six days ago thanks to a Jessica Jones pair, welcome Northop Hall, whose star striker Annie Small notched all six goals in her team’s 6-4 success against Brickfield.
