NFA 0 Penrhyn Bay 1 (Nel Metcalfe)
Caernarfon Town 0 Northop Hall 1 (Ruby Hastings)
A tremendous advert for girls football took place at Rhyl Leisure Centre’s outdoor pitch between two talented sides.
In the end, it was Nel Metcalfe’s 44th minute goal which sealed victory for the 2018-19 cup winners Penrhyn Bay.
A great ball through from Sophie Rawling found Ella Jones, who played into Nel and she finished just inside the 18-yard box.
The rest of the game was end-to-end with chances for both sides and the tie could have gone either way.
Rosie Hughes went close in the first half for NFA, rounded the keeper but shooting just wide.
The hosts also fired in a few long distance efforts, but nothing could get past the Bay keeper.
Another tight encounter at The Oval saw a Ruby Hastings goal secure Northop Hall passage into the quarter finals.
Two well-matched teams put on a good contest, but in the end just the one goal decided it.
Hall’s goal was scored by Hastings in the second half, but Caernarfon created a good few chances of their own.
