Terrific triplets celebrate milestone birthday on a soccer Sunday

Lucy Morris is one of triplets celebrating a special birthday today

There are not one, not two, but three reasons to say happy birthday to a trio of girls from the same family on this super Sunday.

Footballing triplets, Charlotte, Emily and Lucy Morris of Prestatyn all reach the milestone of 30 today.

All three are best known for their roles in Denbigh Town women’s most successful-ever period in the last decade.

During a tremendous spell for John Clayton’s side, Denbigh lifted the Betty Pickering Cup (2013-14), won the North Wales Women’s League title (2014-15) and made it to the semi-finals of the Welsh Cup (2015-16).

Emily Morris in past action for Denbigh Town

Left-back Emily was a real stand-out performer in the league-winning campaign, securing herself the Player of the Year award.

Lucy is a right-footed forward who can play on either wing, and was second-top scorer in 2014-15, with only Mari Edwards ahead of her.

In 2013-14, Lucy notched a fantastic and memorable hat-trick for Denbigh in a 6-0 Betty Pickering Cup quarter-final caning of Prestatyn, completing her treble with a 25-yard special after carrying the ball from the right-back position.

Charlotte Morris

Charlotte is a right back who can also play further forward. Unfortunately, she had to stop playing football for a while after undergoing a major operation and remains unsure if a comeback will ever be on the cards.

All three Morris girls are good technically with strong pace and were an integral part of the Denbigh Ladies squad which hit great heights between 2013-16.

Charlotte in action

Emily is one minute older than Lucy, her identical twin. Charlotte, who is non-identical, was first to arrive a minute before Emily.

It’s getting difficult this, but I think this is Emily

The soccer sisters have always played for the same teams, their most recent being Denbigh, who Emily and Lucy last represented in 2019-20.

All three are ardent Manchester United fans and run lively Twitter accounts firing off their opinions on football and TV.
