My North Wales women’s football dream team: Erica Jones (Pwllheli)

It has been no surprise to see Erica Jones picked for a few North Wales Dream Team XI’s since we started the series!

Today, the Pwllheli legend gets to choose her own all-time best XI.

She is the eighth selector in a Grassroots North Wales run of articles which has also included Abby Williams (Airbus), Gwenno Gibbard Bolton (Bethel), Lexi Crawley (Amlwch Town), Claire Colville (Llandudno), Cerys Gadd (Amlwch Town), Libby McClelland (NFA) and Meinir Thomas (Amlwch Town).

GOALKEEPER

Elena Julio

One of the best keepers I’ve seen and also had the pleasure to play alongside…also a very talented player in midfield.
Massive influence in any team she plays in!

DEFENDERS

Sioned Bohana

Commitment to the game is outstanding and has a cracking left foot. Her ability and awareness on the pitch is something to look up to. Great team spirit.

Sian Moore

Very hard worker. She learns in every game and her performance gets better with each game. Solid, young and very talented.

Kim Broadbent

Best centre back I’ve played with. Solid in tackles and reads the game very well. Her communication with her back line is what keeps everyone going through the game.

Ceri Ann

What a winning smile! Ceri Ann of Pwllheli. I almost started singing The Hollies song until I realised it is CERI ANN and not CARRIE ANNE 🙂

Was part of the squad that got Pwllheli to the Welsh Cup Final in 2006 v Cardiff City. Right foot like a rocket when she connected to the ball and a solid performer.

MIDFIELD

Lowri Hughes

She’s like an all-time favourite player. I would rather play with her in my team that against her.. her work ethic on the pitch is immense.

Emma Pritchard

Emma was also in the Pwllheli team that reached the Welsh Cup Final in 2006. Won every tackle in midfield. Her ability to deliver balls through the channels were timed to perfection. All-round solid player.

Ffion Owen

Played with Ffion in the Welsh Premier for Caernarfon Town.
One of the best midfielders in the North Wales Women’s League.
Understands the game to a T…not afraid to take a shot from anywhere; seen some cracking goals from Ffion.

Natalie Pritchard

One of the most talented young players I’ve ever seen playing football.
Had the pleasure of being in Pwllheli ladies with her back in the day. Very dangerous player attacking and the best left-footer I’ve seen..

FORWARDS

Catrin Thomas

Also played in Welsh Prem alongside Catrin at Caernarfon.
She knows where the goal is and also reads the game brilliantly. Can understand why she once got top-scorer in the North Wales League (38 goals in 2016-17) ..nightmare to defend 😂

Katy Godfrey

Very skilful with the ball and also known for her tricks.
Wouldn’t leave the dressing room without her number 14 shirt..😂..Part of Pwllheli squad back in the day and also represented Wales in her heyday!
