When it comes to encouraging others to take up running Josie Rhisiart is top of the podium.

For her dedication and achievement, the Run Leader with social running group Môn Milers will receive a special award.

At a time when spirits have been dampened by the recent tightening of Covid restrictions, Josie’s nomination to receive the Run Wales: Inspirational Run Leader of the Year award is welcome news.

The accolade, part of the Welsh Athletics National Awards programme for 2020, is given in recognition of a Run Leader’s work and dedication in encouraging members of their community to take part in running activities.

Môn Milers member and fellow Run Leader, Heather Roberts, who nominated Josie for the award, said: “Josie’s innovative ideas and encouragement has meant that members of the Môn Milers Social Running Group have been able to run together throughout the different levels of lockdown – both virtually and in person when safe to do so.

“The Môn Milers would not exist without Josie and the many hours of work she puts in to organising and running the sessions. This is a well-deserved award, congratulations Josie!”
