Jodie Richards was a five-goal star for a Wrexham side which recorded a high-scoring victory in what was a game of two halves.

The visitors were 6-1 up at half time, but in the second period Denbigh came back strongly.

Goal machine Rosie Hughes hit four for Town, whose new manager Jordie Baker was pleased with the overall performance.

“It was a brilliant effort from the 14 who were there,” he said. “A brilliant start for the ladies who haven’t played in around a year.”

Lauren Reese added a double for the visitors, Lily Jones also on target.

Every time Wrexham attacked in the first half they looked likely to score.

They led 3-0 within eight minutes and 6-0 by the 40-mark.

Just before the break Rosie Hughes beat the last defender and the keeper to snatch an excellent individual goal to raise the spirits.

It was still not looking good for Denbigh but they seemed a different team in the second half, battling for every ball and playing more of the game in the visitors half.

As the match wore on Denbigh were looking stronger and stronger.

A further three top class individual goals by Hughes and a low shot into the bottom corner by youngster Cara Jones made the final score a lot more respectable for the hosts.

Northop Hall Ladies 5 (Leonie Smith, Brygida Gorecka, Jo Bennion, Gemma Williams, Abbie Holland)
Holywell FC Girls and Ladies 0

After losing 4-2 to Holywell seven days ago, the Hall bounced back with a more convincing win at Rowley Drive this afternoon.

The opening goal saw the ball carried out of defence to midfield and played out wide to Leonie Smith, who cut inside the full back and beat the keeper at her near post.

It was 2-0 when Ffion Cooper delivered a long ball which was helped on by Debra Wright into Brygida Gorecka, who beat the keeper at the second attempt.

A great save from Bethan Thomas ensured the Hall kept their two-goal advantage.

Superb wing play on the right from Smith set up the third as she squared to Jo Bennion who finished clinically with the outside of the foot into the far corner of the net.

Hall made it four when great battling and persistence from Gemma Williams ended with her beating the keeper one-on-one at the near post.

The scoring was completed when a corner from the right by Cooper was cleared out to the edge of the area and looped back into the top corner by Abbie Holland.
