My quest to compile a complete North Wales women’s football honours list is making decent progress.
I’ve now managed to establish all the North Wales Women’s League champions dating back to 2012-13.
I’m not actually aware how long the league has existed, with much of the history having been removed from the internet to seemingly hamper present and future administrators.
However, I did find an article last night from 2006-07 which stated Colwyn Bay needed to beat Wrexham in their final game to be crowned champions.
Sadly I cannot find a record if they did so, but at least this confirmed the league dates back to at least 2006.
Many thanks to everyone who has helped me so far. There are people out there who will know the missing information, but they have either not seen my appeal or have chosen to ignore it.
What’s gone on with the women is nothing like the scandal of allowing the former men’s Welsh Premier League site http://www.welsh-premier.com to disappear and leaving us with a totally inadequate replacement, but it is still irksome in the extreme.
Anyhow, here is where we are for now. Can anyone help fill in the gaps?
Please contact dave@nwsport.co.uk – it would be great to hear from you.
