Dave Jones chooses his all-time Llandudno Albion XI

Llandudno Albion celebrate landing the Mawddach Cup in 2017-18

Llandudno Albion formed six years ago and have gone on to establish themselves as one of the strongest tier 3 clubs in Wales.

Winners of the NWCFA Junior Cup in their debut season of 2014/15, Albion went on to land the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Premier Division and Welsh Alliance Division Two titles back-to-back.

They have since steadied themselves in Welsh Alliance Division One and the new pyramid sees them placed in tier 3 Ardal North West for 2020-21.

Adding the Barritt/Mawddach Cup to their collection in 2017-18, Albion also reached the national FAW Trophy final last season, but due to Covid-19 the showpiece game against Penydarren BGC never took place.

Over the past six years the Albion have produced some fantastic players.

It’s difficult to choose an All-Time XI but here’s my effort.

Goalkeeper

Paul Whitfield
Was the star of Albion’s run to the 2019-20 FAW Trophy Final, saving a number of penalties in the competition.

Former Wrexham and Wales Under-21 keeper Whitfield, 38, also played in the Welsh Premier for Connah’s Quay Nomads, Newtown, Bangor City, Airbus and Rhyl.

He was appointed goalkeeper coach at Llandudno FC this summer.

Defence

Dean Roberts
An Albion player since day one, he can play anywhere across the defence and is a totally dependable customer.

Joel Lloyd

Captain fantastic, a colossal defender who also gets plenty of goals, having netted more than 50 since the club formed. One of the deadliest penalty-takers in North Wales.

Dan Roberts
Young central defender who really flourished with Albion in the 2019-20 season, tremendous all-round footballer.

Midfield

Dan Evans
Central midfielder with a remarkable knack for scoring goals. Has reached double figures for Albion in each of the past three seasons. Also a highly talented cricketer.

Ricky Jones

Joined Albion in 2016-17 and notched 20 goals in his first season.

An attacking midfielder in every sense of the word, has a penchant for netting spectacular goals. Has also represented North Wales Coast FA.

Mike Williams

Struggled with injuries in recent seasons, but was outstanding in Albion’s debut campaign, producing a man of the match performance in the NWCFA Junior Cup final.

At his best is a relentless midfield workhorse who never stops running.

Jordan Kane

Adaptable to many positions, Kane played in Albion’s first three seasons and amassed 60 goals, including 33 in 2015/16.

Former Wrexham prospect who is also an exceptional cricketer.

Charley Kemp
Can play a game in first gear and still be the best player on the pitch.

He controls the pace of the game and has great vision and passing abilities.

Highly rated by all who have played alongside him.

Forwards

Dave Maddock

Albion’s all-time record marksman with 81 goals, having been with the club since the start.

Spent half of his time as a defender before being moved to striker in 2017-18 and banging in 30 goals.

Strong, robust front man who never gives anything less than 100%. Welsh Alliance Division One player of the season 2019-20.

Mark Montgomery

Was Albion’s all-time leading hitman with 66 goals before Maddock passed him last season.

Mark was Albion’s top scorer in 2014-15 with 38 goals – the highest total in a single season for the club.

Featured in the team’s first three seasons and was a massively influential player.
