Ryan McKean steps down as Amlwch Town manager

Ryan McKean has tonight stepped down from his role as manager of Amlwch Town FC.

Chris Byast has offered to become interim-manager of the tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division club and will take charge with immediate effect.

McKean said: “It’s with a heavy heart I must step down but I feel my time has come to an end. I’d personally like to thank everyone for their support. This is a fantastic club and I’ll miss not being part of it.”

Goalkeeper Ryan stepped up as manager in July 2018, replacing Andrew Wright, and helped save the men’s team from folding.

Chairman, Idwal Hughes, said: “It’s disappointing to see Ryan step down. He stepped into the breach when we were at our lowest. And for that, I personally will be forever grateful to him.”

“He has worked really hard this summer to try and get a competitive squad together in the wake COVID-19, but unfortunately, things just haven’t worked out.”

The Amlwch Town FC committee would like to place on record its thanks to Ryan for his hard work and commitment over the past two years.

The committee has now opted to promote from within, with well-known player Byast taking the helm.
