Former Rhyl FC midfielder Callum Roberts has joined Prestatyn Town.
Roberts progressed via the Academy set up at Belle Vue, advancing from the under-8’s through to the first team.
He made his first team debut at the age of 16 as a second-half substitute in the Nathaniel MG Cup against Llandudno in October 2018 and made a further five appearances for Rhyl during the season.
During the 2019/20 campaign he made his full debut against Llangefni Town and in total chalked up four starts and six substitute appearances before the Lilywhites withdrew from the Cymru North upon disbansion.
Roberts has also represented Wales Under 18’s Academy, making appearances in a double-header against the Republic of Ireland at Cefn Druids and Bala Town.
The new signing follows the arrival of striker Shaun Cavanagh, announced yesterday by the Cymru North champions.
Numerous key players have also announced they are staying at Prestatyn.
They include defenders Myles Hart, James Jones and Ross Weaver, Zebb Edwards, Dan Roberts, consistent goal-getter James Kenny, long-serving striker Ian Griffiths and the pacy Oliver Buckley.
Also signed up for this season are goalkeepers Jon Rushton, Ryan Woods and Elijah Beattie, as well as academy graduates Macauley Taylor, Casey Faulkner, Aaron Wright and Sam Duffy, plus the gifted Jack Higgins.
And committing tonight are James Stead, Alex Jones and Ben Maher, and just confirmed are the outstanding Michael Parker and Kai Edwards.
From last season’s championship-winning squad, Danny Davies and Rob Hughes have left to join Welsh Premeir clubs Connah’s Quay Nomads and Flint Town United respectively.
More announcements on players are expected in the coming days.
