Ben Ogilvy has returned to CPD Pwllheli Football Club as first team manager.

Ogilvy was in charge for the 2018-19 season, stepped down early in 2019-20, but is back at the helm for the forthcoming campaign.

He is joined at the Recreation Ground by assistant-coach Paul Roberts, former striker with Bangor City and Porthmadog in the Welsh Premier League who scored 147 goals at the top level.

Criccieth man Paul, a one-time Wales Under-21 international and Wrexham player, must rate as one of the finest goal scorers ever to emerge from the Llŷn Peninsula.

Club captain Martyn Smith has joined the coaching team at Pwllheli along with Dylan Jones.

Martyn has been involved with the club for many years and his knowledge and experience will be a big help going forward.

Dylan will remain part of the club’s first team backroom staff having led the team alongside John Glyn Jones after Ogilvy resigned last September.

Manager Ogilvy had a very short playing career due to injury but managed to gain valuable experience, representing Bangor City in the Welsh Premier and Europe (club’s youngest player to appear in European competition).

He also wore the colours of Aberystwyth, Porthmadog and Caernarfon Town in the WPL, but suffered a knee injury at 22 and had to stop playing after a couple of operations.

Ogilvy coached and managed junior sides before taking over Pwllheli’s first team in 2018-19.

His first season at the helm came in very difficult circumstances as the club ended up remaining in Welsh Alliance Division Two having initially been promised promotion to Division One.

Starting the season much later than everyone else, Pwll worked wonders to cope with the fixtures backlog and finish fourth.

Last season they ended up fifth in Division Two.
