Shaun Cavanagh to leave CPD Porthmadog

Shaun Cavanagh

CPD Porthmadog are set to lose the services of top class front man Shaun Cavanagh.

Port manager Craig Papirnyk announced on the club website http://www.porthmadogfc.com that Cavanagh’s future plans lie away from the Traeth.

Papirnyk said: “Cav has decided to remain a Tier 2 player, and has had numerous offers during the last month.

“He is a genuine lad with an abundance of talent and has ambitions to play at the highest level he can.

I would like to thank Cav for everything and wish him all the best in his next challenge. It was not an easy decision for Cav to make, he respects the club and has wished us all the best.”

Cavanagh returned to Porthmadog in January, scoring 6 goals in his 4 games before the season was brought to an early close.

The 22-year-old has always played his football at a high level, with Caernarfon Town, Llandudno and Bangor City among former clubs.

Looking ahead to the new season, Papirnyk has made an important decision regarding the captaincy of the club.

Paul Pritchard

He said: “Paul Pritchard is to be the club’s new captain for the season ahead. Paul was one of the first to commit to the club for the coming season and turned down the offers he was made to leave.

“Pritch has all the experience you would want in a captain; he is a fantastic person and top quality goal keeper.

He has respect from his peers and I’m really pleased to announce him as my captain for the season ahead.”

Committed to Porthmadog for next season are:
Paul Pritchard
Tomos Emlyn
Josh Banks
Ceri James
Ifan Emlyn
Gareth Jones Evans
Rhys Alun
Jamie Mcdaid
