Neal Colakoglu has been unveiled as the new chairman of Holywell Town Football Club.

He replaces Sean Elliott, who stood down earlier this week to concentrate on his duties as licensing officer for the Wellmen.

Colakoglu was previously chairman at Prestatyn Town, who under his leadership won the Cymru North title last season.

He left the club earlier this month to be replaced by Merseyside-based businessman Jamie Welsh.

Colakoglu now takes the reins of a club at the same level as Prestatyn.

Holywell were promoted to the tier two Cymru North last week as 2019-20 champions of the Welsh National League Premier Division.

Speaking after his appointment, Colakoglu said: “I am excited about the opportunity to work with the existing management team to take this club forward. The club is already in a healthy state and I am sure we can bring success to the club both on and off the pitch in the coming seasons.

“Having gained promotion, we will now work to develop the playing staff with Johnny for the start of next season to stabilize the club in the JD Cymru North.

“I look forward to being welcomed to Halkyn Road in the forthcoming season by all connected with the club and we can enjoy the club’s future together.”
