Ground share option being explored by new Rhyl football club

Belle Vue football ground

The new Rhyl Football Club are looking to ground share to kick off their first game of the new 2020/21 season.

An unnamed source close to the new club has confirmed there are multiple options on the table with the primary objective remaining to bring Belle Vue back to the Rhyl community.

The former Rhyl FC, which announced it was entering into liquidation last week, has attempted many times going back to the 1990s to purchase Belle Vue from locally-based owner David Butters, offering above the market value, but the landlord has refused to sell.

After the decision of Rhyl FC to fold, bringing an end to 141 years of existence, it was announced this week that a new phoenix club is to be formed in the town.

The club has started conversations exploring multiple ground options and have been surprised, following all the media coverage and local support, at the high number of offers generated to help in hosting their games.

The new club, that was announced by the Rhyl Fans Association on Monday, is believed to have a favoured option as the interim ground solution.

It is also believed the club are exploring offers that have come in on ground sharing outside of Rhyl in the short term in order to achieve the necessary ground licence accreditation.
