Llysfaen celebrated the greatest result in their history as they pulled off a shock 4-3 win at Nefyn United in the third round of the NWCFA Junior Cup.
Taking on Nefyn, winners of the cup in 2018 and fourth in the Gwynedd League, Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Division One leaders Llysfaen travelled to the Llyn Peninsula as firm outsiders.
However, Emlyn Robert Jones’ side tore up the script and going into injury time were 4-1 up courtesy of a four-goal salvo from the prolific Sean Sheridan.
Nefyn’s only goalscorer to that point had been Steve Jones. The Penwaig managed to net twice in added time through Steve Jones and Dylan Sion Jones, but Llysfaen held on for a fantastic win against opponents from a higher level.
Llysfaen are now one of just two teams in North Wales senior football to be undefeated in all competitions.
Their golden streak stretches 18 matches – 11 league, 3 President’s Cup, 2 REM Jones Cup and 2 NWCFA Junior Cup.
Abergele progressed to the last eight with a 7-1 pasting of Caergybi, Jack Hoult (2), Jack Lloyd Williams, Dominic Holland, Sam Ashton, James Hay and Chris Davies sharing the home goals, Gary Jo Owen responding.
Goals from Kieran Kendrick, Joe Maguire and Geraint Jones guided Llansannan to a 3-1 success against Rhos United, Tom Edgley for the losers.
There was an epic tie at Rhosgadfan, where the only remaining Anglesey League survivors in the competition, Mountain Rangers, hosted Talysarn Celts.
It was the Gwynedd League Celts who went through 6-4 after extra time.
Declan Williams (2), Simon Kay and Terry Watkinson were the home hitmen, but Gerwyn Williams (3), Luke Baum, Gwyn Thomas and Gavin Davies saw Talysarn through.
Llandudno Amateurs Reserves versus Trearddur Bay Bulls was postponed due to an unfit pitch, so the teams will try again at Trearddur next Saturday.
Menai Bridge Tigers made the quarters on Friday with a 4-0 thrashing of Arriva Bangor, while the previous weekend saw Bangor 1876 whip Llanystumdwy 5-0, and Llangoed and District saw off holders Bro Goronwy 4-1.
