Bangor 1876 are now North Wales’ only senior team with a 100% league record

Bangor 1876 are the only remaining team in North Wales senior Saturday football with a 100% league record after Bangor City Reserves were held 2-2 at home by Llangefni Town Reserves tonight.

The Citizens were 7 and 0 heading into this evening’s Welsh Alliance Reserves Division clash, but a late equaliser from new signing Cai Penny Williams scuppered the home side’s perfect stats.

At the start of the year, only 1876, Bangor Reserves and Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Division One outfit NFA had won all their league matches.

However, NFA have been held to draws in their last two outings, and now City’s first blip has occurred tonight.

That leaves 1876 standing alone with a proud record of 15 games and 15 wins as they top the Gwynedd League.

At the weekend, Mel Jones and Dylan Williams’ side became the first North Wales senior team to reach 100 league goals for the season as they thrashed Bethesda Athletic 10-2.

The fan-owned club are now just four goals short of 150 in all competitions.

As well as their 15 league victories, the Treborth side have won eight out of 10 cup ties, their only defeats coming versus higher level opposition in Ruthin Town and Llanrwst United.
