Welsh National League: Seven for the Park, Brymbo and Rhostyllen, Albion hit six

FC Queen’s Park remain among the leading pack in the Welsh National League Premier Division after a 7-0 thrashing of Castell Alun Colts.

In difficult conditions, the Park’s first goal arrived when Edgar Lima cut in from the left and his delivery took a wicked deflection into a gaping net.

The second quickly followed when Aled Powell burst down the right flank and crossed to the far post for Lima to tap home.

James Gregory prodded in to make it 3-0 after 30 minutes before Barry Torrence produced a moment of brilliance to strike the ball beyond the keeper from distance to end the half.

The Park continued to have the upper hand after the break and another great cross by Powell allowed Torrence to head home at the back post.

Nicky Chesters had run himself into the ground by this stage after his first start in months and the Park produced the first of their veteran subs. The combined age of the three Queen’s Park repalcements was 128 years.

Before any more goals were scored the save of the match was produced by the Park goalkeeper Tom Belton, who kept his third successive clean sheet.

Lima completed his first Park hat-trick as he rounded the keeper to convert for 6-0.

Both Tony Jones and Gregory had suffered knocks and needed to leave the pitch, which meant veterans James Tizzard and Dave Evans were summoned to steady the ship.

Al Huxley made it seven before the end.

Rest of the Premier

Cefn Albion retained top spot with a 6-1 thrashing of Chirk AAA, Alex Williams (3), Nathan Williams; Kien Morris and an own goal making up the home total.

Mold Alexandra came from behind to pip Penycae 2-1, Ben Howarth and Conner Kendrick for the winners, while Rhos Aelwyd defeated Llanuwchllyn 2-0, Jamie Rogers and Aled Robertson on target.

Tom Douglas and Aaron Edwards bagged a brace apiece in Rhostyllen’s 7-2 tanning of Brickfield Rangers, Kevin Roberts, Steven Jones and Mark Williams adding singles.

New signing Leon Jones pocketed a hat-trick as Brymbo romped to a 7-0 decision at Rhydymwyn, Lewis Clarke, Jamie Cumming, Zak Clark and Jake Clark with the rest.
