North Wales football’s weekend super seven

Cymru North
Porthmadog 2 Flint Town United 2

Great fightback from struggling Porthmadog to recover from two-down at half time to grab a point at the expense of second-place Flint.
Mark Cadwallader and Alex Titchiner struck in the first half for the Silkmen, but Port were not playing badly and deservedly pulled level in the second stanza through John Owen and substitute Telor Williams.

NEWFA Challenge Cup
Cefn Druids 0 Buckley Town 2

Although Cymru North underdogs Buckley were not facing Druids’ full Cymru Premier side, it was still a fine result for the visitors to The Rock.
Connor Littler bagged both goals for the record nine-time cup winners, who dumped out the current trophy holders.

Welsh Alliance Division Two
Barmouth & Dyffryn 4 Gwalchmai 1

Bermo really upped their game to end Gwalchmai’s impressive unbeaten away record in Division Two, which stretched back seven matches.
Stephen Bratt, Rob Murfet, Rob Owen and Bobby Griffiths notched a goal apiece for the impressive home side, Mark Jones replying for the Anglesey team, who started the day in third place.

Welsh National League Premier Division
Llay Welfare 2 FC Queen’s Park 1

Llay manager Mike Gadie

Llay boss Mike Gadie was delighted with this result against a Queen’s Park side he had never beaten as player or manager in his career.
Goals from Ryan Goodband and Matt Worrall clinched the win, Luke Hughes responding for the Park, who had Josh Phillips sent off for a second yellow card at the start of the second half.

Gwynedd League
Talysarn Celts 3 Trearddur Bay Bulls 1

Talysarn showed just what they can do on a good day as they saw off long-time Gwynedd League leaders Bulls.
Rhodri Jones, Jac Jones and Gerwyn Williams struck for the hosts, Iolo Jones’ penalty proving a mere consolation for the visitors.

Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One
Denbigh Development 4 NFA 5

Game of the weekend, to use a boxing term, pound-for-pound?
Leaders NFA came so close to losing their 100% record, but managed to squeeze out a 5-4 victory at Denbigh Development.
Joel Rowlands (2), Elliot Chapman and Morgan Jones put Denbigh 4-1 up after 63 minutes, Jordan Taylor the NFA marksman.
But then the Rhyl side showed the mettle of potential champions as Taylor completed a hat-trick, then James Paggett and Nathan Jones struck late to steal the points.

North East Wales League
Chirk Town 0 Sychdyn 1

Sensational outcome as newcomers Chirk, unbeaten in the league all season, saw that record scuppered at the 10th hurdle.
The Taverners, second in the table, were undefeated in nine matches, but Nathan Howartson’s 30th minute goal sealed a fantastic result for Sychdyn.
