Six of the Best: great performances across North Wales football this weekend

Cymru Premier

Before kick-off Airbus had lost six league games in a row while Druids had taken 15 points out of the last possible 18.
The previous weekend, Cefn had ended Connah’s Quay Nomads’ unbeaten record by beating them 2-0 at The Rock, while the Wingmakers were walloped 5-0 at Caernarfon.
And in their last home game, Airbus had been battered 12-0 by The New Saints!
Therefore, the form book suggested an Ancients win at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium on Saturday.
However, Airbus pulled off what has to rank as an outstanding 1-1 draw.
Andy Owens put the hosts ahead on 17 minutes and it remains 1-0 before James Davies levelled for Druids on 79.

Brymbo 2 Holywell 4
Welsh National League Premier Division

Holywell had recently lost 4-2 at Brymbo in the FAW Trophy, but on Saturday the Wellmen reversed that scoreline to maintain their undefeated record in the Welsh National League Premier Division.
Sam Jones, Danny Dobbins, Dylan Allshorn and Jake Cooke grabbed the all-important goals for Johnny Haseldin’s side in a win which keeps them right up among the leaders.

Colwyn Bay 0 Llangefni Town 0
Cymru North

Llangefni manager Chris Roberts

Taking on a Bay side lying third in the table, Llangefni showed tremendous battling spirit to leave Llanelian Road with a draw.
Cefni held Rhyl 0-0 the previous weekend and have now lost just one of their last five league matches.
Manager Chris Roberts must be delighted with the performances of his defence at present.

Welsh Alliance Division One

It does not matter what the respective positions of these sides were before start of play.
To go away from home in the Welsh Alliance and score 11 goals is quite a feat – indeed I cannot remember it being done often, it at all, in some years.
Title hopefuls Denbigh romped to victory thanks to five goals from Jake Walker, a Mark Roberts hat-trick, plus one apiece from Jacob Barrett, Jonathan Terry and Daniel Clarke.

Rhyl 0 Llandudno 1
Cymru North

Down to eight men by the end, Llandudno still managed to emerge from Belle Vue with a 1-0 victory.
Rhyl were very disappointing on the day, hardly managing a decent effort on goal through the 90 minutes, but they are still one of the best sides in the Cymru North, so to win there three men short due to red cards is worthy of much praise.
Jacob Farleigh scored the only goal on 42 minutes. Rhyl also had one player dismissed.

Conwy Borough 2 Flint Town United 2
Cymru North

Boro are becoming the comeback kings of the Cymru North.
In midweek, they trailed 4-1 at Colwyn Bay but rallied to draw 4-4.
And on Saturday, they were two-down early on to second-place Flint, but recovered to salvage a point.
Corrig McGonigle was again the main man for the Tangerines, scoring twice to make it 20 goals for the campaign.
