Leon Gierke was a hat-trick star as Llansannan stormed into the next round of the Premier Cup with a 5-1 home thumping of Premier Division leaders Rhuddlan Town.

Former Burnley and Rhyl striker Gierke netted on seven, 58 and 80 minutes for Tom Lewis’ side, who were well worth their victory.

Rhys Hughes and Geraint Jones also found the net for the home team, Rhuddlan’s only consolation coming via an own goal.

Abergele went level on points with Rhuddlan at the Premier summit after an 8-4 thrashing of Llanelwy Athletic.

Jack Hoult (3), Dominic Holland (2), Jack Williams, Connah Atkinson and Liam Roberts shared the home total, Dan Price (2), Frank Hennigan and Paul Fazackerley for the visitors, who only trailed 4-3 at half time.

Llanfairfechan Town produced a strong performance in hammering Rhos United 6-0, Iwan Jones (3), Elliot Croston, Tom Croston and Sion Devereux combining to produce the half-dozen.

It ended 0-0 between Bro Cernyw and Cerrigydrudion. Both sides worked hard to attack and counter-attack, but the deadlock remained unbroken, Cerrig’s Siôn Edwards and Joe Edwards in the goal opposite both having to produce some good saves.

Luke Jones pocketed a hat-trick in Penrhyn Bay Dragons’ 6-1 caning of Betws-y-Coed – the only Division One game to survive the weather.

Jack Kearney (2) and Jonah Jackson netted the rest for the home side, Ellis Payne-Evans for the well-beaten travellers.
