Women’s football previews: NEWFA Cup – Sunday, November 10

How will Denbigh Town ladies get on at Mountain Rangers in the NEWFA Cup?

North Wales Women’s League NEWFA Cup previews – Sunday, November 10 (1.30 pm kick-offs – double check with clubs)

All matches weather permitting – please keep check with clubs on the latest situation in the lead-up to games

Amlwch Town v Holywell Town

Amlwch given a bye into round three.

Bethel v Connah’s Quay Nomads

Anest Roberts could have a busy game in defence for Bethel

What a belting tie in prospect – last season’s Division One joint-champions Bethel against exciting Division Two newcomers Connah’s Quay.
Neither side has lost yet this season, but that can no longer apply after Sunday as there has to be a winner on the day.

Caernarfon Town w/o Kinmel Bay

Caernarfon automatically move into round three as Kinmel Bay have withdrawn from the cup.

Corwen v Rhyl

Postponed due to snow

Llanfair United v Airbus

Becky Lees (centre) has scored in every game she has played in for Airbus this season, while Hana Eagles (left) has returned to the club

Llanfair will aim to make it back-to-back home wins against opponents they beat 5-1 in the league last weekend.
Airbus have still not been able to field a settled side this season, and this week announced established midfielder Emma Parry has left the club, although the talented Hana Eagles returns, which is good news for the Wingmakers.
Airbus are still without injured captain Abby Williams, which certainly affects the midfield.
Llanfair are looking stronger than ever this season, with goals flowing throughout the team.

Mountain Rangers v Denbigh Town

Mountain Rangers ladies could give Denbigh Town a real battle. Katie Bowe (back row – third left) is the top scorer

This one has cracker written all over it.
Rangers have the prolific Katie Bowe on duty to get the goals, while her former strike-partner at Llandudno, Rosie Hughes, is now with Denbigh and has managed six and four-goal hauls already this term.
Division Two Rangers will be aiming to cause an upset against Division One Denbigh and it is far from beyond the realms of possibility that Irfon Hughes’ side will spring a surprise.

Pwllheli v Northop Hall

Bethan Thomas is a top class goalkeeper for Northop Hall

Good contest in prospect at the Rec.
Division Two Pwllheli have made a good steady start to the season and with home advantage must have a fine chance of reaching the next round.
Northop Hall have just one point to their name in Division One, but are capable of giving a good account of themselves at the Rec.

Wrexham v Llanberis

Sioned Phillips will ensure Llanberis give it everything at Wrexham

Newly-promoted to Division One this season but yet to get a point, Wrexham are badly in need of a morale-boosting win.

They might fancy their chances of getting it at home to Division Two newcomers Llanberis, but led by inspirational captain Sioned Phillips, the Darans will be far from pushovers and this could end up a close one.
