Hotspur beat Town 3-1 in the Welsh Cup second qualifying round Holyhead derby at the New Stadium.

Alex Jones and Robert Jones put the Welsh Alliance Division One hosts two-up before Gary Jo Owen replied with a penalty for the Division Two visitors close to half time.

Kenleigh Owen settled the contest with a third goal for Hotspur after the break in a tie which pulled in an attendance of 761.

Gwynedd League sides Bangor 1876 and Nefyn United are both into the first round proper after giant-killing victories.

Les Davies was a four-goal hero and Dylan Summers-Jones added a double as 1876 swept aside Welsh Alliance Division One outfit Penrhyndeudraeth 6-2 at Treborth.

Nefyn also eliminated opponents playing two levels above as they emerged 7-4 victors at Mynydd Llandegai.

Carl Jones (3), Steve Jones (2), Dylan Sion Jones and Iolo Jones shared the Penwaig’s tally.

Aberffraw of Welsh Alliance Division Two knocked out Division One Glan Conwy 2-1 at Cae Cynlas, Nathan Moore and Gary Bolton on target for the Anglesey side, Tom Shorrocks replying.

Late goals from Elgan Roberts (pen) and Tomos Jones ensured Llannefydd eliminated Llanrwst United 2-0 in another triumph for WAL Division Two over Division One.

No surprise at Llanrug United where the home side overcame the challenge of Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League underdogs Llanfairfechan Town 5-0, Gavin Lloyd-Jones (2), Joni Sadler, Iwan Edwards and Kevin Lloyd splitting the goals.

Rob Daniels and Gavin Edwards earned Nantlle Vale a 2-1 win over Bodedern Athletic, who led through Callum Thomas.

Gethin Wakeham, Nidian Huws and Tomos Saynor guided Llanberis to a 3-1 result at St Asaph City and Prestatyn Sports beat Llandudno Albion 4-2, Dean Hyland, Cy Williams, Ian Dunn and Sam Herd one each for the hosts, Dan Evans and Dave Maddock responding.

Meilir Williams marked his return from injury with a hat-trick as Blaenau Amateurs went through 4-2 at Mochdre Sports, Sion Aron Roberts adding a single for the Quarrymen.

Mynydd Isa Spartans produced one of the performances of the day in the Welsh Cup second qualifying round when they triumphed 3-2 at Welsh Alliance Division One leaders Denbigh Town.

Kallum Pierce was the chief hero for the Welsh National League Division One underdogs with a hat-trick, but it was a tremendous all-round performance from James Hollyoak’s side. Jacob Walker and Shon Jones replied for Denbigh.

Coedpoeth United continued their excellent cup form this season with a 4-2 home beating of Llandyrnog United, Nathan Jones (2), Edgar Costa and Nick McCormick with the goals for the WNL Division One team.

Holywell Town maintained their recent goals glut with an 8-2 pummeling of New Brighton Villa, Shaun Tuck (3), Mark Connolly, Luke Edwards, Sam Jones, Jake Cooke and Joshua Robertson sharing the home total, James Beck and Max Quinn hitting back for the visitors.

Danny Wynne (2), Lee Jones, Danny Warren, Rhys Nash, Lewis George, Matty Pierce and Adam Renshaw combined to send Mold Alexandra into the next round via an 8-0 destruction of Castell Alun Colts.

Rhydymwyn ran out 3-1 winners at Saltney Town, Matty Hill, Nathan Mendoza and Sam Davidson putting the visitors three-up within the opening 23 minutes. Jordan O’Brien bagged a late consolation for the Bordermen.

Brymbo advanced with a 4-2 victory against visitors Rhos Aelwyd, Ben Kearney (2), Billy New and Jamie Cumming for the Steelmen, Scott Reeves and Ryan Jenkins for the travellers.

Chirk AAA’s first win of the season was a really good one – 5-4 at FAW Trophy holders Cefn Albion. Sixteen-year-old Harvey Edwards struck twice for the Colliers, Louie Middlehurst, Callum Taylor and Alex Edwards the rest, Torne-lee Samuels, Kien Morris, Alex Williams and Sean Jones the home hitmen.

Greenfield edged past Plas Madoc 4-3 thanks to goals from Sam Jones, Sion McHugh, Ryan Jones and a late decider – a screamer from Dylan Roberts. Nicky Williams (2) and Callum Roberts were the Madoc marksmen.

Penycae squeezed through 3-2 at Llay Welfare, while Cefn Mawr Rangers v FC Queen’s Park was postponed.
