North East Wales League: Brilliant away win for Borras, Brymbo Vics triumph again, five for Evans in Vets Premier

Borras Park Albion produced a fantastic performance to win 2-0 against the odds at Penyffordd Lions and reach the next round of the Top Mark Uniforms Premier Cup.

Lewis Evans netted on 48 and 65 minutes for Borras, who had to play with 10 men for 70 minutes after their right-back went off injured and the team had no substitutes.

To round off an amazing all-round effort, Albion goalkeeper Lewis West saved a penalty.

Also in the Premier Cup, Caerwys eliminated Mold Town United 4-1, Elgan Hughes, Josh Richardson, Tom Cumming and Jon Edmonds scoring one apiece for the hosts after Aaron North had edged the visitors in front early on.

In the North East Wales League, Brymbo Victoria kept their magnificent unbeaten record by shading a 4-3 verdict at Sychdyn.

Paul Messham (2, 1 pen), Finlay Dyer and Adam Lloyd shared the away goals total, Terry Pughe, George Thomas and Mark Weir (pen) keeping the hosts in the hunt.

Acton romped to a 15-0 success against visitors Bellevue.

Goals were split between Luke Hilditch (3), Lucas Godfrey (2), Ryan Jones (2), John White (2), Jason Weaver, Ashley Edwards, Ethan Callaghan, Mike Pugh, Jamie Pugh and Alex Godfrey.

Postponed: Chirk Town v Bradley Park.

In the Veterans Premier Division, Ian Evans netted all five goals as Ruthin Town whipped Point of Ayr 5-1 away, Bon Brown replying, while Gary O’Connell and Steve Hughes registered hat-tricks in Shotton Steel’s 7-1 drubbing of FC Nomads, Lee Cousins adding a single for the Steelmen, John Albiston the sole away marksman.
