And true, the Wrexham side suffered a painful blow the previous weekend when they lost their 100% record in a 5-2 reverse at Brymbo.

But still, for Mold to beat last season’s table-toppers 5-1 represents quite a performance.

Danny Warren, Matty Lewis, Ben Howarth, Dave Bryan and Adam Renshaw shared the home goals, Tristan Wagner replying.

Saltney Town 2 Llay Welfare 3

A tremendous fightback from Llay saw them recover from two goals down to win 3-2 at the home of the Bordermen.

Rhys Lloyd, Tom Wells and George Finlay ensured Mike Gadie’s side claimed all three points.

Before the game Welfare re-signed Matt Worrall from Gresford, who slotted straight in and was pivotal in the win.

Seeking a first win of the season, Holywell recovered from 2-1 down to record a tremendous result at The Rock.

Shaun Tuck put the Wellmen in front, but Kien Morris levelled before the break and Zac Davies made it 2-1 to the FAW Trophy holders early in the second half.

But a James Graham spot-kick brought it all-square, then Holywell raised their game in the last quarter, Tuck, Paul Williams and Mark Connolly all on target to secure the victory.

Llanfairfechan Town 5 Kinmel Bay 3

Welsh Cup first qualifying round

A joyous giant killing for Llanfair of the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Premier as they knocked out Welsh Alliance outfit Kinmel Bay.

Thomas Croston (2), Harry Croston, Iwan Jones and Ryan Lewis produced Fechan’s goals, Matthew Griffiths (2) and Georgy Szabo replying.

Welsh Cup first qualifying round

Coedy are making a habit of upsetting higher ranked sides in the early rounds of cups this season.

On Saturday, Olly Lewis (2) and Kev Breeze’s late spot-kick ensured the WNL Division One side dumped out Premier high flyers Rhostyllen 3-2. Callum Thurnham also brilliantly saved a penalty for the winners.

Before kick-off Pwllheli were above Felinheli in the table on goal difference, so this was an excellent result for Euron Davies’ side.
