Llandudno Ladies rule Britannia!

Llandudno delivered themselves a super boost ahead of the new Welsh Premier Women’s League season by winning the high quality Britannia Cup tournament in Chester today.

The well-run seven-team event, staged at The Cheshire County Sports Club, saw Sarah Colville’s side lose their first game after conceding a needless penalty in a 1-0 defeat to Port Talbot.

Tudno then drew 0-0 with Northwich Vixens before really coming good with a 5-0 drubbing of Didsbury, Louisha Doran (2), Anna Jones, Kelsey Davies and Jasmin Dutton sharing the goals.

Doran was on the mark again in a 1-0 victory over Barnsley, and the Maesdu Park ladies followed up with a 4-1 success against Leigh RMI, Jordanne Greenough (2), Dutton and Doran finding the net.

In the final, Llandudno faced Northwich Vixens in a game which ended 1-1, Dutton on target again.

It went straight to penalties, and the North Wales side won the shoot-out.

Catherine Jones, Dutton and Catrin Thomas scored, Greenough missed, but Doran never had to take one as Northwich missed two, Becky Elliott saving one.

Llandudno maintained their excellent record in summer tournaments.

Winning squad: Louisha Doran, Sioned Bohana, Jasmin Dutton, Catrin Thomas, Rebecca Elliott, Keren Allen, Shona Roberts, Samantha Jarvis-Evans, Rachael Nattrass, Mari Gibbard, Kelsey Davies, Anna Jones, Catherine Jones, Cara Hughes, Jordanne Greenough, Georgia Smith, Claire Colville.
