It was one-way traffic at Treborth as Trearddur Bay secured their spot in the 4th round of the FAW Amateur Trophy with a thumping 8–1 win over Central Wales League side Llanidloes Town.
The breakthrough came early through Ashley Ainsworth who found the back of the net in the 11th minute. It was 2-0 in the 18th minute, as Ainsworth grabbed his second of the afternoon – his 10th for the season.
Bay were firmly in control and 5 minutes before half time, Joe Todd added a third goal to put the game further out of Llanidloes’ reach. Just before the half time whistle, top scorer Callum Parry scored in his 6th consecutive game, capping off a flawless half of football and giving Bay a commanding 4–0 cushion at the interval.
The second half started at a quieter pace, with no goals for the first half-hour of the restart as Bay safely managed their lead.
However, the game burst back to life in the 78th minute when substitute Sebastian Samuel made an instant impact from the bench slotting home his first of the afternoon to make it 5–0.
Llanidloes managed to grab a consolation goal five minutes from time to ruin the clean sheet, Alex Jones finishing off after Bay failed to clear a corner, but it proved to be completely irrelevant as the Beach Boys went on a devastating rampage in stoppage time.
In a frantic period of added time, Bay struck three more times in rapid succession. Samuel pocketed his second and just two minutes later, Iolo Hughes got his name on the scoresheet to make it seven, before Samuel immediately struck again to complete a fantastic hat-trick from the bench.
