Callum Parry and Liam Morris (11) threaten for the Bay

Callum Parry grabbed a hat-trick and moved up to 20 goals for the season as Trearddur Bay advanced to the next round of the FAW Amateur Trophy with a hard-earned 4-2 win at Penycae.

This second-round tie was highly anticipated, matching up two in-form sides: Penycae, who currently lead the Ardal North East division, and Bay, second in the North West.

The match also saw the introduction of two new signings for Bay, with Harvey Scott signed from Bethesda Athletic named in the starting line-up and Ryan Pryce, returning for his second spell with the club, named among the substitutes.

Bay took an early lead just four minutes into the game, Noa Hughes setting up Parry to open the scoring. Penycae gradually grew into the game and found an equaliser in the 26th minute through Benjamin Dawson.

However, the hosts were level for barely a minute. Bay responded immediately from the kickoff, working the ball forward for Parry to score his second of the afternoon and restore the visitors’ lead at 2-1, a scoreline they held until half-time.

Penycae started the second half strongly and managed to level the score for a second time in the 52nd minute when Luca Beck found the back of the net.

With the game finely balanced, Bay retook the lead in the 61st minute. New signing Scott made an immediate impact on his debut, providing the assist for Parry to complete his treble..

As Penycae pushed forward in search of another equaliser during the final stages, Bay caught them on the break.

In the 80th minute, Liam Morris scored to double the advantage, making it 4-2 and securing the Anglesey side’s place in the next round of the competition.
